Being drip-fed information on the HTC Supersonic is unlikely to be as pleasant an experience as actually having one, but it’s all we can do to fill the time until this beast of a phone finally makes its official debut (probably on Sprint ).

Trainspotters, eagle-eyed bloggers, and tech detectives of all stripes have had a field day with last night’s iPad commercial . At the very least, we got a pretty good look at some e-book prices , ranging from Ted Kennedy’s True Compass: A Memoir ($14.99) to Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Journey to Change the World… One Child at a Time by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin ($7.99)

We’ve already seen MIDs , high-res phones , and a few other odd devices from Qisda since it spun off from / encompassed BenQ, and it looks like it’s now trying its hand at another e-reader as well.

We caught our first glimpses of the Sling Monitor 150 placeshifting display at CES 2009, but it only got an official launch at this year’s show , and now it looks like it’s getting even closer to store shelves with an appearance at the FCC for some RF testing action. We’ve always been intrigued by the 15-inch 720p display that can stream HD over WiFi, but until a cable or satellite operator actually deploys some of those hot SlingLoaded set-top boxes this thing isn’t going to do anyone too much good. Sling Monitor 150 hits the FCC originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 24 Feb 2010 15:33:00 EST.

The wild world of rapid-fire phone software updates has spoiled us all, but HP’s bringing just a smidgen of that to the world of home servers. This week owners of the last-gen EX470 and EX480 series MediaSmart Servers will be able to nab a DVD that updates their servers to the new 3.0 software currently available on the EX490 and EX495 models , including better Mac support and automatic media transcoding. Unfortunately, this update isn’t free: you’ll have to pay $25 for the privilege

If you ever needed a reason to go Linux, here you go. The noise surrounding this patently obscure Windows XP bug / patch fiasco has just reached a fever pitch, and now we’ve got engineers within Redmond scratching their heads, too. As the story goes, Microsoft recently patched a security hole that took care of an antediluvian DOS vulnerability , and in doing so, some users began to see BSODs and endless reboots

Windows XP patch fiasco gets even crazier, Microsoft now scrambling for solutions
It ain’t the first HDMI-to-Mini DisplayPort adapter that we’ve heard of , but there’s nothing like a little competition in a market that Apple’s own closed mindset helped create. Bitterness aside, we’re pretty stoked to hear that Kanex — the same company responsible for that oh-so-handy Mini DisplayPort Adapter for Mac mini — has introduced its own solution for piping Blu-ray, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 signals right onto that gorgeous 27-inch panel that resides in your iMac

Nothing more to go on with this one than what you see above, unfortunately, but that message does come from T-Mobile USA’s official Twitter account, and it pretty clearly indicates that the carrier will have something to say about the eagerly anticipated HTC HD2 sometime next week.

No offense meant to Eric Clapton, but not everybody wants a faux wood phone . And yet, it seems like there are many folks in this subset scattered across this fruited plain who’d like a real 3.5mm headphone jack on their phone, and for those crazy people there’s at last the T-Mobile myTouch 3G to suit them. The phone has just been listed in white and black versions on T-Mobile’s store, and lack all the fancy app and content frills of the Fender Limited Edition, and have even been consigned to mere 8GB microSD cards (while Fender jams away on a 16GB slice).
