A quick WHOIS confirms that RIM’s taken control of blackpad.com — yes, it’s long been rumored as a potential name for the BlackBerry tablet , but we’re certainly hoping Waterloo’s just parking a domain name to keep squatters at bay, because, seriously, we just got over the iPad jokes, you know? P.S.- And might we see whatever this is at the RIM / AT&T event on Tuesday

Someone should really tell T-Mobile USA it’s got a rather large hole that needs plugged. Hot on the heels of the (presumably) T-Mob-bound G1 Blaze leak comes this duo, which includes a purported leak of the myTouch HD (or 3G HD) as well as a web portal that quite clearly prepares us for the launch of the carrier’s first HSPA+ smartphone

As a fan of Swedish electoral politics, you’re obviously aware that the Pirate Party (or “Piratpartiet”) has been bedeviling officials in that Nordic country since 2006, doing crazy things like hosting the Pirate Bay’s servers and launching the Relakks commercial darknet — all the while flying the flag for privacy rights, copyright reform, and state transparency. And now

Hey, remember that iPhone class-action lawsuit we poked around in a couple months ago and discovered Apple’s lawyers confirming the original five year AT&T exclusivity agreement ? Well, get ready to hear about it a lot more in the months to come, as the judge in the case has officially certified the case as a class action, meaning it now officially includes anyone who’s ever bought an iPhone on AT&T

If you’ve been anywhere near the internet in the past few hours, you’ve undoubtedly heard about a Steve Jobs email conversation in which he told an angry iPhone customer to “calm down” and that the iPhone 4 was “just a phone.” That email chain, which was published on Boy Genius Report earlier, was also reportedly shopped to AppleInsider a few days ago — for a price. Well, now Fortune is reporting that they’ve been told by a “a top Apple spokesman” that the emails are fake, and the exchange never happened

We can’t say there’s a ton of surprises here, but, if you’re curious to know exactly where Google stands on the whole HTML5 / Flash debate , the company has now laid out its position in a post on its official YouTube API Blog. The short of it is that while Google says it has been “excited” about HTML5 for some time now and that the <video> tag is a “big step forward for open standards,” it says that Flash will continue to play a “critical role in video distribution,” and that it remains the “best platform” for YouTube’s requirements today. Of course, Google also didn’t let slip the opportunity to once again talk up the recently-announced WebM video standard , which it says is the open video format the web has been waiting for

Sure, Microsoft might be selling seven copies of Windows 7 a second , but that doesn’t mean Redmond isn’t planning for the future: the software giant is purportedly beginning to prep ODMs on Windows 8, if these leaked slides are to be believed.

If there’s one company in the world who knows more about gripping phones than anyone else, it’s Nokia — you know, the creator and sole proprietor of sidetalkin’ . So on that note, you might want to sit up and pay attention to this little piece over on Nokia Conversations detailing four popular grip styles that won’t kill your signal, including the four-edge — a work of art that we’ve attempted to demonstrate for you with limited success in the picture above.

If Steve Ballmer’s still pumped eight months later, there’s a good reason — Windows 7 has reportedly sold its 150 millionth copy, just two months after crossing the 100 million mark . If you run the numbers — and we have — that translates to roughly seven licenses sold per second since launch, a very convenient number for Microsoft to tout in their marketing communications from here on out
