+ iPhone SDK 3.2 showing first hints of multitasking for third-party apps? By admin 11 March 2010 at 5:01 pm and have No Comments

Naturally, we need to first disclaim this noise by saying that rumors of third-party multitasking capability in the iPhone are as old as the iPhone SDK itself. That said, it’s hard to ignore a new reference to a “multitasking dialog box” buried deep within the iPhone SDK 3.2 beta that — while not new to beta 4 specifically — we’re told didn’t exist in 3.1.3.

+ HTC Incredible out in the wild once more, Verizon color scheme alive and well By admin 11 March 2010 at 12:41 pm and have No Comments

Android Forums is alight today with fresh HTC Incredible chatter — a phone every Android fan on Verizon is desperately waiting for — and we’ve managed to glean a few more pictures and possible specs out of the mess. It looks like we can expect a half gig of RAM with about 320MB available (roughly the same as what you find on the Nexus One ) and an 8 megapixel cam, but interestingly, the phone’s Snapdragon core is apparently underclocked to 768MHz, almost certainly a battery-saving measure on HTC’s part; fortunately, the Sense -powered Android 2.1 firmware is still said to be “blazing fast.” It measures 117.5 x 58.5 x 11.9mm — just a hair narrower, shorter, and thicker than its Nexus One doppelganger, small enough of a difference so that we think it’ll be virtually indistinguishable in person.

+ HTC Touch Pro 2 gets a new lease of Android life, loves it (video) By admin 11 March 2010 at 3:56 am and have No Comments

Android for Windows phones — simple concept, simple enough installation, but awesome results. The good people behind the XDAndroid project have been working hard to allow you to get your Google juices flowing nice and freely on your WinMo device and the latest build looks to have all but completed the task

+ Motorola Devour review By admin 09 March 2010 at 12:13 pm and have No Comments

While Motorola’s vanilla-Android Droid has become the most recognizable Android device on the market — thanks in part to a bombastic ad campaign — Motorola’s primary focus has been on its own custom Blur UI. At least, if quantity of devices are any indication

+ AT&T’s LG eXpo pico projects itself right out of stock, production problems to blame? By admin 08 March 2010 at 10:33 pm and have No Comments

As Windows Mobile 6.5-based handsets go, LG’s eXpo unquestionably stands near the top of the pile thanks to its WVGA display, 1GHz Snapdragon core, and optional pico projector hump for the rear — but there’s a problem: it’s really, really hard to find. Nigh impossible, actually, especially now that AT&T has pulled it off its online store altogether (it had been showing out of stock for weeks anyway).

+ T-Mobile invites us to ‘come experience the HTC HD2′ on March 16; release on the 24th? By admin 08 March 2010 at 3:42 pm and have No Comments

Like clockwork, we’ve just been dropped a line by T-Mobile USA asking us to join them for a very special media event to check out the HTC HD2 — “a larger than life entertainment powerhouse” — in fabulous New York City on the evening of March 16. That lines up nicely with the company’s earlier assurances that we’d see a launch in March — but what day in March, exactly? Well, we’re hearing from a number of tipsters (including trusted sources) that the 24th is the day this thing breaks loose at retail, so set your watches and calendars accordingly — assuming you haven’t been wooed into Windows Phone 7 Series’ tender, loving grasp, that is

+ Motorola Backflip doesn’t allow non-Market apps, proves AT&T doesn’t get Android By admin 08 March 2010 at 2:06 pm and have No Comments

Let’s step into the time warp, shall we? Specifically, we’d like to go back to our interview of AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega at MWC last year when we asked him about the carrier’s support for Android (or lack thereof): Chris: Okay, and expanding on that a little bit, I heard you speak at CTIA last year and you mentioned that… you mentioned basically the same comments about Android at that time.

+ Samsung’s 82-inch multitouch E-board demonstrated (video) By admin 08 March 2010 at 10:41 am and have No Comments

We’ve been hearing about a certain 82-inch E-board as far back as SID-2008 , but recently the Samsung Roadshow launched in Germany, allowing us to finally get a good look at the device. In addition to its interactive, multitouch whiteboard functionality, this bad boy (also available in a 65-inch model) can act as a display for a PC or Mac and supports Sammy’s EmoLink technology for receiving and displaying data from the company’s e-readers . No word on a release date, but when it does roll around you can expect to drop about €9,000 — or about $12,300.

+ Gigabyte ‘Codfish’ Android 1.6 handset outed By admin 08 March 2010 at 1:20 am and have No Comments

We don’t see too many Gigabyte phones in these parts, but all indications seem to suggest that the company is throwing in with Android for future handset releases (which is what we would recommend, if it ever asked us — which it doesn’t). As we wait eagerly for the GSmart Android phone to make its debut, which should happen any second now (right, guys?) we have word of a second Donut-powered device with the oh-so-unappealing name Codfish. According to PointGPhone , this bad boy is of “good manufacturing quality,” “very responsive,” and counts among its many charms a 3.2-inch display and 5 megapixel camera.
