Droid 2 and Android 2.2 fated to be together from the start, according to latest leaks 21 July 2010 at 2:25 am by admin

You know, some people get married with less information about their partner than we already have about the Droid 2 . Today, we have a pair of independent leaks seemingly confirming that the second coming of Moto’s QWERTY-sportin’ Doer will be running Android 2.2 right out of the gate. Droid Life has a tipster that’s apparently spent some quality time with the device, describing its keyboard as “phenomenal” and pointing out that it feels notably snappier than the original

+ Droid 2 being prepared for launch, set to arrive August 23rd? By admin 19 July 2010 at 2:24 pm and have No Comments

The Droid 2 ’s been leaking out all over the place in the past few weeks, but it looks like it’ll be another month before it officially hits shelves — we just got these shots from a packaging facility that’s handling the phone, which puts it right on schedule for that rumored August 23rd launch . We’re also told that the phone will definitely ship with an 8GB microSD card, and that pricing appears to be $199 on contract and $599 standalone, although those numbers could change. Just a few short weeks left, we suppose — although give the rate at which this thing is leaking, we’re thinking Motorola and Verizon might do well to push that date up a couple weeks.

+ Rumored HTC Desire HD specs surface: 4.3-inch screen, 8-megapixel camera By admin 15 July 2010 at 12:59 pm and have No Comments

We didn’t have a ton of details on the so-called HTC Ace when it turned up in a leaked roadmap last week , but a fresh set of rumors are now suggesting that the Ace is actually the Desire HD, which will reportedly pack a number of HD-esque upgrades over the standard Desire .

+ Xbox 360 getting dashboard revision this November? By admin 15 July 2010 at 11:47 am and have No Comments

Let’s face it, the New Xbox Experience isn’t exactly “new” any more, but it looks like Microsoft may be getting close to another complete revision. If a set of purportedly authentic images that surfaced on Logic Sunrise (and have since been pulled at Microsoft’s request) are any indication, it appears that the Xbox 360 dashboard will be tweaked to match the appearance of the new Family Center component that Microsoft recently announced (and is set to launch in November).

+ T-Mobile webConnect Rocket 2.0 leaks out, brings along Mac support and microSDHC slot By admin 13 July 2010 at 12:28 am and have No Comments

T-Mobile’s webConnect Rocket has only been delivering “4G speeds” to users in search of mobile internet for a handful of months now, but already the company looks to have a successor on deck. If a pair of leaked slides are to be believed, the webConnect Rocket 2.0 is mildly overhauled version of the original USB WWAN modem, capable of delivering HSPA+ speeds on both PC and Mac platforms

+ Mysterious Dell Mini 3v outed by Chinese mobile regulator, OS unknown By admin 09 July 2010 at 12:35 pm and have No Comments

Fancy playing a game of “guess the phone?” Dell’s got one for you — the folks over at Chinese mobile regulator TENAA have once again prematurely outed another handset from said computer giant. As usual, there’s no mention on the screen size, screen type or even the OS, but we’re told that this plain-looking Mini 3v runs on both TD-SCDMA (i.e.

+ What is this tiny Apple touchscreen that just leaked in Taiwan? By admin 09 July 2010 at 9:41 am and have No Comments

Okay, we have no idea what’s going on here, but Taiwanese site Apple.pro has just posted up some shots of appears to be a tiny Apple-labeled touchscreen panel — it measures just 3cm (1.18 inches) square. Given the site’s track record with previous Apple component leaks like the white iPhone 4 and the unibody MacBook Pro enclosure , we’re somewhat inclined to believe this is real, but we have no idea what it’s for — a new iPod nano?

+ AT&T stores getting Windows Phone 7 retail materials, launch coming sooner than expected? By admin 05 July 2010 at 9:08 pm and have No Comments

Microsoft’s mobile efforts may look like they’re slightly in disarray after the expensive and embarrassing Kin debacle , but it looks like Windows Phone 7 may yet emerge unscathed from the chaos — and potentially even earlier than expected, if this sheet of AT&T retail signage that’s being sent out for a July 24th store overhaul is to be believed. Don’t get too excited, however: we’re told that cards like this have hit in July for September launches in the past — which would line up with that hint of an October Telstra launch — and that the “QTY: 6″ label likely points to two devices, not a sextuplet.

+ Apple telling reps to smooth over iPhone 4 reception complaints, not to offer free bumpers? By admin 29 June 2010 at 4:52 pm and have No Comments

BGR appears to have nabbed a document being distributed by Apple corporate to AppleCare reps tasked with handling iPhone 4 customers miffed with the antenna performance fiasco — and for the time being, the recommendations are focusing on managing expectations, not fixing the problem. In a nutshell, reps are being instructed to pass on a more politically correct version of Steve’s email by telling customers that they should “avoid covering the black strip in the lower-left corner of the metal band.” Interestingly, they agree that bumpers might fix the problem, but they’re emphatic in saying that they “ARE NOT appeasing customers with free bumpers – DON’T promise a free bumper to customers.” And yes, that statement is complete with caps and bold in the source document, so they mean business, it would seem.
