Nyko announces two silky new Raven PS3 controllers 01 July 2010 at 9:22 am by admin

Silky isn’t typically an adjective we’d associate with game controllers , but that’s exactly how gaming accessory maker Nyko is describing the feel of their new Raven controller line for the PlayStation 3. The line includes a standard PS3 configuration as well as an Xbox 360 inspired “alternate” layout which flips the position of the left analog stick and d-pad for a more ergonomic feel. Both will connect wirelessly to your system via a USB dongle, and will cost $35 once they hit shelves later this summer.

+ Acer’s updated Predator gaming desktop swoops down from the trees to decapitate the competition By admin 28 June 2010 at 6:05 am and have No Comments

When launched back in 2008, Acer’s Predator desktop was a mean gaming rig — and we don’t just mean because it had a tendency to actually set things on fire . We’re pretty sure the new, just announced revision of the desktop won’t suffer the same ailment, a non-customizable update that sports a 2.8GHz Core i7 930 CPU, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 GPU, 1.5TB of storage, 12GB of DDR3 RAM, and an asking price of one buck under $2,000.

+ Microsoft confirms: $199 new Xbox 360 coming soon, as well as Kinect bundles By admin 19 June 2010 at 7:10 pm and have No Comments

Well, none of this will come as a big surprise here, but it’s always nice to hear it straight from an official source. Microsoft has confirmed that a $199 version of new Xbox 360 will be coming in the fall to replace the now-$149 Arcade , which is no longer in production. In addition, the company’s also spilled a few more beans — Kinect will be available as a bundle with the new Xbox 360, and though there isn’t any official pricing information on that one just yet, we’ve seen some telltale evidence on that front which would lead us to believe it’ll run somewhere in the neighborhood of $399 for an Elite and $299 for the Arcade.

+ ForceTek XIO: the gaming controller that hurts you, not the TV (video) By admin 18 June 2010 at 8:03 pm and have No Comments

Forget the Wiimote , PlayStation Move and Kinect ; here’s a controller that actually makes you feel the games. At E3 earlier this week, startup firm ForceTek was seen demoing its XIO Virtual Gaming System — a rather fancy name for a force-feedback arm exoskeleton that “provides a controlled resistance” to your arm and wrist movement

+ Turtle Beach Ear Force Z2 ears-on By admin 18 June 2010 at 5:38 pm and have No Comments

With its Ear Force line, Turtle Beach has turned the gaming headset from niche product into must-have accessory for many serious gamers — particularly those engaging in some warfare of a modern variety. The wireless, 7.1-channel X41 model sits on the high end, but Turtle Beach is now offering those on a bit of a budget a new option: the Ear Force Z2. At $69.95 it isn’t exactly cheap, but compared to the other products on the segment it is something of a bargain.
